Who is your favorite engine? Ordinarily you may think you are reading on an automobile engine discussion, but I am just simply opening on a good and wholesome discussion.
Most parents now worry over the shows their kids are constantly exposed to as they switch on the television sets. There seems to be so much that the media have to disclose, they left nothing to our imagination.
Don’t you just miss those days when shows can really bring so much to your imagination? Don’t you just want to share that boob tube moment with your little one?
Remember Thomas the Tank Engine?
The decade of the 1980’s had been witness to many good shows for the kids. Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends is one of those short presentations then, basing the story from the book series. It was first seen in 1984. Alec Baldwin and Ringo Starr were one of the more famous celebrities who have narrated the stories for the viewers then. There were films already done featuring the story in the said television series.
Do you know how Thomas the Tank Engine and the whole series came about? Who would have thought that it all started with a simple story created by a father to entertain his son, a fruit of a father’s loving care to his son. What followed after is a series of books made for kids tackling the adventures of trains and other vehicles who live in a place called Sodor. The
Many had been familiar with the story. Many had been familiar with the tune. But what else can be more remarkable but being acquainted and growing fond of particular characters. Going back to my initial question about the favorite engine, it is definitely Daisy.
Daisy the Diesel Tank Engine
You must never forget Daisy. She is sassy. She is classy. Daisy is a diesel engine passenger train. She has one of the longer styles and is one of the larger trains. She has the colors of green and yellow. She first came to the picture in Sodor when she came to the rescue of Thomas when the latter met an accident.
She taught as important lessons in life. She conveyed a lot about our way of getting along with people. She disclosed a lot about the effects of first impressions.
In the series, it was not an easy start for Daisy. She had an initial difficult time. She started out insulting Annie and Clarabelle, the coaches of Thomas. She insisted on carrying only passengers. She refused to pull on other vehicles, especially the trucks. As such, she came out strongly as a toffee-nosed!
This is not easy for a new-comer, especially to a group of close friends.
She, however, tamed down. She learned the importance of having to get along with other people. She learned that she has to work with the rest of the team. She learned that there is more that can be done when she cooperates with the rest. She learned this very quickly and she later on became popular and close friends with the rest of the gang.
Clearly, most of us, even if we are already on our adult years, can still identify a lot with Daisy. Who wouldn’t? We meet new people everyday. We cannot choose the different people we have to work with. We are sometimes stuck with people who strongly go against our approval.
Any lover of the Thomas and Friends series should be kept reminded of the experience of Daisy, should remember the struggles of this engine, and should hold on to the lessons and realizations.
Truly, the series had been entertaining, but they had been more remarkable because of the characters we identified with, grown up with and loved.
