Thomas the Train is the main character in the children’s TV Series Thomas & Friends. It is based on the Railway Series of books, written by Rev. Wilbert Awdry and lately, by son Christopher of Sodor Enterprises.
The adventure unfolds in the Island of Sodor, amidst lush landscapes and rolling hills in bright daylight. Thomas is a train engine who came to the Island, on loan from the South England line. Ever since he has proven himself worthy to Station manager, Sir Topham Hatt, by doing good deeds and keeping the happy, useful attitude, he decided to stay and never return to England. He is joined by good friend-coaches Annie and Clarabel as well as other rail and roadway characters working and living about The Island of Sodor. Each episode tells tales of Thomas and Friends displaying good manners, doing hard work and being a “Really Useful Engine”, the ultimate steam engine praise.
Relive the Thomas and Friends adventure through linens and bedding. See the different Thomas and Friends characters come alive and toot you awake to a bright, sunny day. Below are the different kinds of bedding that you should buy to complete the train journey.
* Bed frame – specialty bed manufacturers can customize a bed frame for your train engineer. Blow up the Thomas model engine by having it made into your very own bed frame.
* Fitted sheet — sheet that covers your mattress. It has a garter all around the edges so it will “fit” when laid onto the mattress. Can feature Thomas and all of his friends to showcase the different characters of the series. May also feature a detailed map of the Island of Sodor, so your child can pick and choose the next train stop to read and view.
* Flat sheet – a bed sheet used as a layer of thin blanket, under the real blanket or comforter. Should match your fitted sheet. May also be in plain, solid color (choose Thomas’ blue) as an accent to the rest of the beddings.
* Blankets – to keep you warm during the colder months. They come in fleece, cotton, chenille, down, or vellux.
* Bed cover -- gives the first glimpse of Thomas and Friends in the room, it is laid on top of all the other sheets to cover and add extra blanket to the bed. Choose from the following types:
** Comforter – bed cover made of two layers of cloth filled with stuffing in between and stitched together. It can also be used as a blanket for colder days.
** Duvet cover – a comforter cover. To extend the life of your comforter, use the duvet cover to give it an outer skin. Come laundry time, it will then be easier to change covers than change comforters.
** Quilt – thinner version of the comforter.
* Pillow Cases – come in standard size for your child’s head support, but can also have varying sizes in bolster style, shams or even a customized train engine! Now that’s taking Thomas with you to bed.
* Bed skirts – also called dust ruffles, they hid the bed’s box spring and can add texture and color bedding set. But if you already have the Thomas and Friends bed frame, who needs this?
* Bed-in-a-bag – a set of bed sheets and pillowcases in one case (bag) that has all the basics needed for your bed (fitted sheet, flat sheet, two standard pillowcases, comforter, bed skirt and pillow sham).
The train journey never ends, but a “Really Useful Engine” deserves to rest. Snooze with Thomas and his Friends and rest well for tomorrow is another day for a great train ride!
